YOUR FULLY EQUIPPED PILATES STUDIO LOCATED IN BURLEIGH ON THE GOLD COAST

Our boutique Gold Coast Pilates studio located in Burleigh Waters is fully equipped with a variety of small and large apparatus, perfect for private or small group classes.

All classes are 55 minutes in duration and are tailored to the client’s abilities, preferences and goals at the time of the session. Our classes can be either therapeutic or athletic in nature depending on the goals of you as the client.

We have created a warm, non-judgmental Studio environment with very friendly staff so you feel welcome and comfortable when you come to Pure Living Pilates. Our goal is to make sure you leave feeling better, stronger and taller than when you walked in the door.

Our highly trained Pilates instructors are well educated to understand all the contraindications from a rehab perspective so if you are recovering from an injury, or have any conditions that can benefit from Pilates then your instructor can discuss your condition directly with your physiotherapist, osteopath or chiropractor to design a workout to get you on the road to recovery.  You can rest assured you are in very safe hands at Pure Living Pilates.

WHAT IS PILATES

Pilates is system of exercise that targets the smaller deep muscles of the abdomen and spine to strengthen your body from the inside out.

Developed by Joseph Pilates in the 1920's, Pilates is a form of exercise that builds your core strength focusing first on the smaller inner muscles that support your spine and joints and create functional movement in your body.

To some of you it may seem intimidating because of all the equipment, but it is an accessible and assistive form of exercise designed for everybody.  You will build strength, flexibility and lean muscle tone with an emphasis on lengthening the body and aligning the spine rather than bulking and shortening the muscles the weight lifting does.

Through regular classes you will achieve a balance of strength and flexibility, a balance of opposing muscle groups and better balance in the body when moving through all of life's activities.  It enhances mental awareness and requires focus on executing the exercises correctly, focus on breathing and also focus on counting.  This mindfulness has been found to reduce stress hormone levels in the body... so your Pilates class is the perfect way to unwind at the end of a long day in the office or at work!

 

PILATES FOR SPORTS AND FITNESS

Most of us today when going to the gym, running or playing sport have super strong superficial muscles (the larger 'visible' muscles) and feel strong, but to prevent injury and improve your performance in whichever sport you choose Pilates is an essential part of your weekly routine.  It sets the foundation for optimal performance.

 

SITTING AT A DESK ALL DAY?

We all know that sitting in a static position all day is not good for us. Our joints stiffen, our hip flexors weaken and shorten and let's face it most of our muscles are on a holiday! Sitting with poor posture for 8-10 hours per day can create areas of tightness called trigger points, which can cause a lot of discomfort and often referred pain to other connected areas of the body. Common complaints are neck pain, tight rounded shoulders, tight pectoral muscles around the chest, headaches and a general lack of energy.

By attending your classes weekly, you will release the tension and tightness through these trigger points and also through dynamic movement.  Relieve the tension in your neck and shoulders, open up through the chest, increase your core strength, create optimum mobility in your hips and lengthen your hip flexors.  The overall result is improved posture, and a clearer mind..  who wouldn't want that??

We can provide both Rehabilitation and Reformer Pilates.
